Voice Representatives
Voice Reps are your first point of contact for any queries in relation to your membership of Sheffield Philharmonic Chorus. Unless they also hold another position they are not trustees and do not attend committee meetings. PHOTOS of Voice Reps Feb 2022
Voice Reps Role
To facilitate communication between the Music Director and trustees, and individual members, in order to ensure adherence to best practice and policies of the Chorus, or acting on specific directions.
To perform a pastoral role in making people welcome and responding informally to any questions and concerns
Specifically:
Members must send apologies if unable to attend a concert or a conductor’s rehearsal. Apologies should be sent to your Voice Rep, with a copy to the Membership Officer
Any query about your concert eligibility or special permission should go to Voice Reps
Voice reps may communicate or clarify Music Director or trustee decisions on auditions, uniform, return of music, seating arrangements, subs, announcements, anything arising from the Chorus Rules, or any other issues,
Voice reps are a channel of communication for members’ comments, feedback, complaints or ideas and suggestions

The Chorus is reviewing and planning its strategy for the next few years and would like all members to have a chance to have their say and get involved. Members are therefore invited to take part in an independently facilitated workshop where we hope to work on some of the issues that face us as an organisation and to plan for the future.
Here is the full discussion document, including draft timetable for the workshop: PDF / Word doc.
Please email if you have any comments or questions about this initiative.
Notices
Here are Janet’s notices:
2013
8.1.13 WORKSHOPS are to resume on Tuesday 22 January for four weeks. They will run from 6.30-7.00pm in the Science Room and are intended for both men and women who have yet to audition or those who have passed their audition in the last 12 months but feel the need for some sight reading experience.
If you are interested then please see Paul or Sally at the New Members Table after tonights rehearsal.
In order to target groups of men for possible membership of the Chorus a small flyer has been produced. This was handed out during the 2010 World Cup in pubs to all men present (and women if they feel left out…they might have a friend who sings at home) with the hope of attracting new male singers. However, the flyers can still be printed and handed out anywhere there might be a number of potential singing men. If you have any ideas or could hand out some leaflets, please email Rachel Mallaband (details below).
Please help!! Our existing men, who are doing a great job, simply need extra numbers – especially due to some of the big works already booked for next season. Many thanks.
