The lower voice bursary scheme is a wonderful opportunity for tenors or basses to join the Chorus without having to pay a subscription fee.
This is a terrific offer – as well as waiving the subscription fee, successful applicants will receive a fee for each concert, as long as they attend at least 50% of rehearsals associated with each concert, including the compulsory rehearsals, ie, the conductor’s piano rehearsal and the on-the-day rehearsal. Bursary holders may also have the opportunity to be engaged as soloists in Chorus self-funded concerts or events, each covered by a formal contract and an extra fee.
The Chorus set up the scheme in 2025 and was pleased to support two young tenors who had a wonderful time and continued their involvement through the following season. See Current Season for details of what bursary holders can look forward to singing.
