The successful tenor bursary scheme set up by Sheffield Philharmonic Chorus last year is running once again and tenors are invited to apply.
This is a terrific offer, as successful applicants will be able to sing with the Chorus without having to pay any subscription fee! In fact, the tenor will receive a fee for each concert, as long as they attend at least 50% of rehearsals associated with each concert, including the compulsory rehearsals, ie, the conductor’s piano rehearsal and the on-the-day rehearsal. Rehearsals are on Tuesday evenings from 7pm to 9pm at St Andrew’s Psalter Lane Church; see Rehearsals for further details.
The new season features some fantastic music, including Lili Boulanger’s Hymne au Soleil, Arvo Part’s Adams Lament and Mendelssohn’s glorious Elijah as well as Christmas carols with Black Dyke Band and a live accompaniment to the film Home Alone on the big screen. See Current Season for more details.
Bursary holders may also have the opportunity to be engaged as soloists in Chorus self-funded concerts or events, each covered by a formal contract and an extra fee.
