Chorus welcomes over 50 visitors to sing Vivaldi Gloria

Sunday 22 March 2026

On Saturday 21 March the Chorus welcomed over 50 visitors in a joyful day of singing in the Upper Chapel in Sheffield. Vivaldi’s magnificent Gloria and Haydn’s Te Deum were the two pieces worked on during the day, which was led with humour and musical expertise by Chorus Music Director Darius Battiwalla. Soloists were drawn from the Chorus, and the organ was played by Neil Taylor.

“We all had a wonderful time singing together” said Chorus Chair Joanne Briddock. “And refreshments included lots of yummy cake – what’s not to like?”

Visitors clearly had a super time, with some travelling from as far as Nottingham to join in the day’s singing. This was the third of these singing days organised by the Chorus, and is expected to generate new members, just as has happened previously.
