SPC is looking forward to a full season of fantastic concerts in 2023-24. Details will be released following our Verdi Requiem concert on Sunday 18 June 2023 – see Current Season for details (scroll to the bottom of the page). In the meantime, here is a taster of the season to come.
Concerts in Sheffield
Saturday 28 October 2023 St Mark’s Church, Broomhill at 7pm
Our season will start with a fantastic ‘up close and personal’ concert in the beautiful St Mark’s church in Broomhill. We will sing Durufle’s gorgeous Requiem, Tavener’s Syvati plus the world premiere of our accompanist Rachel Fright’s Sheffield Nocturne, which was a runner up in the Stella Jockel Young Composer Competition in March 2023. There will be other pieces by French composers together with cello and organ solo pieces.
Saturday 16 December 2023 Christmas Concert in Sheffield City Hall at 2.30pm
Our annual carol concert is a real treat looked forward to be audience and performers alike. With the world famous Black Dyke Band, and popular BBC Radio 3 and Proms presenter Petroc Trelawny, this will be a Christmas treat not to be missed!
Saturday 16 March 2024, Victoria Hall, Sheffield.
Programme yet to be confirmed, but we are hoping to perform Britten’s St Nicholas at this concert in the wonderful Victoria Hall, together with works by contemporaries of Britten including Grace Williams.
April 2024 (date to be arranged) Come and Sing Haydn’s Creation
In April 2024 we are planning to run a Come and Sing event, a new venture for the Chorus and a super chance for folk to sing a popular choral work with South Yorkshire’s foremost mixed voice large choir. Watch this space!
Saturday 22 June 2024 Sheffield City Hall at 7pm
Here us perform Mozart’s haunting Requiem with the Flanders Symphony Orchestra, as part of the Sheffield International Concert Season. Also on the programme will be Mozart’s Don Giovanni: Overture and Beethoven’s Symphony No.8.
