Chorus members sing Mahler 2 in Monaco

18 September 2023

The Chorus has been invited to join the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra Chorus and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo in a special performance of Mahler’s 2nd Symphony ‘Resurrection’ in the Grimaldi Forum in Monte Carlo, Monaco.

‘We are very excited to be joining the CBSO Chorus for this concert, which will be conducted by their new Artistic Advisor and Chief Conductor Kazuki Yamada’ said Chorus Chair Jo Briddock, who sings alto. ‘The CBSO Chorus is one of the world’s great choirs and has been trained for almost 40 years by Simon Halsey CBE. We have worked with him before and it’s always a real joy, wan’t wait to rehearse and perform with them again’

The concert, to mark the centenary of the birth of Prince Rainier III, will take place on 24 September and those Chorus members who are going will fly out a couple of days before in order to fit a number of rehearsals in before the concert.

‘We are hoping to fit a bit of sight-seeing in as well!’ said tenor Paul Henstridge.
